About this opening
The Sörensen Defense (3.c3 d5) declines the Danish Gambit with a central counter-thrust: instead of accepting the pawns, Black strikes with ...d5 to open the game on their own terms and neutralize White's initiative. After the central exchange, the position balances out and the Danish attack loses its fuel. It is one of the safest, soundest ways to decline the gambit.
