About this opening
With 1.Nc3 White develops a knight toward the center without committing the pawn structure: the Van Geet Opening is arguably the soundest of the rare first moves. It readily transposes into a Vienna Game or a Closed Sicilian, while the Tübingen Gambit 1...Nf6 2.g4 and the Reversed Nimzowitsch 1...e5 stay independent. The Dutch IM Dirk Daniël van Geet championed it throughout his career, especially in correspondence chess; in the United States it is also known as the Dunst Opening.
