About this opening
The Exchange Variation (4.Bd2 Bxd2+) liquidates the pinning bishop at once. After the recapture, White keeps a small space advantage in a sound, risk-free position. Black gets a solid but slightly passive structure and must play actively to fully equalize. It is the most simplifying option of the Bogo-Indian.
