About this opening
The Open Sicilian arises when White plays d4 and recaptures with the knight (2.Nf3 then 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4), opening the c-file for Black and the d-file for White. It is the main battleground of the Sicilian, from which the Najdorf, Dragon, Scheveningen and Classical all branch out. White enjoys a slight space advantage, Black solid dynamic counterplay.
