About this opening

The Horsefly Defense (1.f4 Nh6) develops the king's knight to the rim on h6, from where it can head to f5 or g4. The idea is to keep the f-pawn free for ...f5 and avoid the usual schemes, but the knight on h6 stays poorly placed and easy to chase. It is an eccentric, not very serious reply, mostly seen in blitz or to disorient an opponent.
